Samsung has strongly waded through its internal feud and today it boasts of an even bigger repertoire of consumer electronics. This electronics Giant latest foray is the Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, a vanguard LCD TV which packs many quality features.
First things first: it uses1080p which is by far the best in terms of resolution. P stands for progressive band which creates one single frame in comparison to two frames per shot created by interlaced band. 1080 is again far better and of a higher order than 720. Effectively this means that the LCD is ready for real high-definition television. Viewers wish for crystal clear images with high sharpness and image vividness. The LCD provides just that.

I’ve had my Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player for 2 weeks now. I’ve never owned a Blu-Ray player before. It looks nice in my cabinet, it’s quieter than my roommates’ Blu-Ray player, and of course it’s got amazing picture and sound. The USB port and the Ethernet port work, but I haven’t had to download any firmware or code updates yet.
The only real operational noise you hear is some track-seeking, which you can hear from the couch if it’s quiet. Not a big deal to me. I have noticed the occasional flicker in the middle of the screen in some parts of mostly-black screens (like credits). It always happens in the same frames, though, so it might be a problem with the discs rather than the player.
